Do you have an idea for a new business
or product and don’t know what your next step is? Are you interested in
learning more about growing your business but aren’t sure what you need to do?
On June 18th, 2019, The Kansas Small Business Development Center at Pittsburg State University is hosting the Rural and Independent Innovators Conference (RIIC). We are very excited about this opportunity to connect with rural entrepreneurs in southeast Kansas who are looking to start and/or grow their business.
RIIC is a day long conference designed to support independent innovators who lack the resources of a developed research program and to provide connections for businesses that need to access innovative ideas in order to evolve and grow. RIIC is a series of events by the Kansas SBDC throughout the state and the June event is for the southeast Kansas region.
Our goals are to help rural and independent innovators recognize good ideas, understand the steps for moving forward with those ideas, and mitigate risks along the way so that they can be successful. Whether you’ve been in business for 20 years, or you just have some ideas in mind and you’re trying to figure out your next steps, this conference was designed with you in mind.
Not only will RIIC take you through the lifecycle of getting from idea to commercialization, but you will also get the opportunity to:
- Learn about loans, grants, and other ways to raise money to fund your business
- Understand trademarks, copyrights, and patents
- Hear from other entrepreneurs about their journey to starting their business, the struggles they overcame, and what advice they learned along the way
- Meet with multiple state and community resources on hand who can answer your questions
