Topeka, KS – The Kansas SBDC has announced that on September 4th, Dr. Laurie Pieper was recognized as the State Star 2019 for Kansas at the America’s SBDC National Conference in Long Beach, CA.
The award recognizes advisors or staff members in the national network of over 1,000 small business development centers for exemplary work performance, significant contribution to their state organization’s economic development mission and for their dedication to small businesses.
Dr. Pieper is a Business Advisor for the Kansas SBDC hosted by Washburn University. In addition to providing core services to small businesses in Northeastern Kansas, she works with the Kansas SBDC Technology Innovation Center on tech commercialization and rural outreach programs. Laurie is a NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional and helps to provide small business international trade education. Originally trained as an analytical philosopher, she has held faculty appointments at University of Oregon and Kansas State University. Prior to joining the Kansas SBDC, Laurie was a business owner for many years and enjoys using her background in education and entrepreneurship to help small businesses.
